World Environment Day

World Environment Day was supported in the Centre and the Town centre on Saturday 7th June with a number of activities throughout the day. Marks & Spencer had their own stand to promote their 'Plan A' activities and the picture below shows Mrs Harries collecting her Organic food hamper following a competition which was run in the Welwyn Times.
iPhone 3G at O2

TECHNO-ADDICTS queued from 5.00am to get their hands on the newest iPhone on Friday morning. At least 75 customers were at the door of the 02 store when it opened for trading at 8.02am - hoping to become one of the first to have the treasured Apple iPhone 3G.
A long queue of eager people remained a conspicuous sight in the Shopping Centre for much of the day.

The Howard Centre management staff were out last Sunday running around Stanborough Lakes for Isabel Hospice’s first ever Jingle Bells and Bows Fun Run. The Howard Centre were the main sponsors of the day, together with Herts Phoenix Running club, The Welwyn Hatfield Times and Hertbeat fm radio with over 350 people taking part.

The Bookdrive is back - Every year at this time the National Literary Trust/Children's Books Ireland (CBI) and Starbucks invite customers to donate new books in-store for local primary schools. Last year a remarkable 100,000 books were donated by Starbucks customers to help inspire a love of reading among children across the nation.With your help, we can reach even more children. This is the fifth year of the Bookdrive. In that time the project has collected and shared almost 230,000 books.
